PHABRIX will be showing its latest V1 release for the ground breaking Qx for UHDTV standards testing at BVE L01 this month at Excel London.
Based upon a new technological platform in order to cope with the larger bandwidths of the new UHDTV formats, PHABRIX will be demonstrating a range of added features which are standard on the V1 release – these include waveforms, vectorscope, additional standards support, reference timing, pathological patterns (including 6G/12G), enhanced Dataview window plus audio monitoring with channel select for listening.
Since its launch the PHABRIX Qx has established itself as a leading test and measurement instrument for broadcast formats up to UHDTV 4K. Able to both generate and analyse simultaneously, the Qx provides accurate SMPTE standard test patterns from its sophisticated on-board generator which can be instantaneously analysed as part of a closed loop process.
In its application within broadcast manufacturing the Qx has its trade marked RTE ‘Real Time Eye’ which continues to impress with automated measurements, visibility of overshoot and undershoot, jitter timing and alignment meters and histograms. This combined with a separate jitter waveform display with decade jitter filters enables the Qx to help identify problems early in product development.
The Qx is also available without the physical layer toolset where it is more focussed on establishing correct UHDTV transmission within broadcast infrastructures.
Using its ‘intelligent’ UI applying icons as targeted instruments, an engineer can easily interrogate any signal under test whether it is based on HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI, 12G-SDI in single, dual or quad link formats. For those standards using more than a single input, such as 2 x 6G or 4 x 3G, the Qx provides a timing window to check each input is within the 400ns window required to meet specification. Add to this a dedicated pattern to check alignment of a four input signal and the Qx demonstrates clearly any remedial action that may be required upstream. Additional instrumentation includes SMPTE ST 352 viewer, picture viewer, VANC/ANC display, input identifier, logging and provision for remote control.
Already in use in broadcast manufacturers, broadcasters and OB facilities, the PHABRIX Qx continues the exactness found within its award winning existing product range. With a rapid development timeline, visitors to BVE will be able to discuss new options available shortly including jitter insertion, FFT jitter analysis and IP support initially for the SMPTE ST 2022-6 standard. Network packet burst analysis and additional IP network tools are also in development.
PHABRIX has also enhanced the feature set of its increasingly popular range of rasterizers. The dual integrated screen Rx2000 with 1920 x 1080 output to HDMI or SDI now provides additional second window display enabling multi-instrument support on the front panel. Alongside the Rx2000 is the 1U Rx1000 and the half rack Rx500. Each of the PHABRIX rasterizers is modular and unusually provides both video and audio toolsets with support for up to 4 video channels simultaneously displaying 16 instruments from any channel.
PHABRIX is well known for its handheld test and measurement instruments with combined generator, analyser and monitoring toolsets as standard. The PHABRIX SxE with its eye and jitter toolset continues to be an engineer’s first choice however the cost effect Sx TAG, its newest addition to the range has found a ready market offering both SDI, analogue and optical interfaces on a rugged handheld chassis. The addition of an SFP cage within the instrument enables it to be updated as new SFP technologies present themselves.
Martin Mulligan PHABRIX sales director and Nicola Milburn regional sales manager for Europe and UK will be in attendance along with representatives from PHABRIX’s R&D team.
If test and measurement is in your broadcast requirements for 2017, stop by the PHABRIX stand near the entrance at location L01 Excel London, you’ll be surprised at the innovation on display.
