PHABRIX, a worldwide leader in test and measurement solutions, is pleased to reveal that NEP UK, the leading outside broadcast services provider, has selected PHABRIX’s HDR and IP-enabled test and measurement solutions for its two new trucks, named Venus and Ceres. Both are already in use and have a full schedule of major events and sporting fixtures lined up over the summer.

With NEP already home to several rack-mounted Rx2000 and handheld Sx units, the company turned to PHABRIX once again for its test and measurement requirements for the brand new trucks, as well as a new flypack.

Rob Newton, Engineering and Technical Director, NEP UK, said, “We’ve been very happy with the reliability of PHABRIX test and measurement equipment in the past, so it was an obvious fit to look at the Qx and Rx units for these new IP-capable vehicles.”

The installation includes two Qx 12G signal generation, analysis and monitoring solutions, which are designed for next generation, hybrid IP/SDI environments using 4K/UHD (12G/6G/3G-SDI) and HD-SDI plus SMPTE 2110 and 2022-6. The hybrid element was a key selling point for NEP to accommodate clients regardless of whether they are using SDI feeds or have made the move to IP. The ease of use of the Qx was also a major factor, making it quick and simple for freelancers to learn and use. The Qx will be controlled by Axon Cerebrum software in both trucks.

NEP has also purchased four Rx2000 units, with each Rx providing up to 4 channels of 2K/3G/HD/SD-SDI video/audio analysis and monitoring (dual inputs per analyser), and can also provide signal generation. Up to 16 instruments can be displayed per channel for video analysis and physical layer testing via an external monitor. Monitoring of the instruments and video can also be performed using dual built-in screens and audio speakers.

Martin Mulligan, Sales and Operations Director, PHABRIX, commented, “These new IP-enabled trucks are the way forward for outside broadcast vehicles. The hybrid nature of our test and measurement solutions perfectly complements NEP UK’s installation and ensures that clients can rely on accurate measurement for SDI, 4K/UHD, HD and IP content.”
